START WITH SLEEP Story Time for Kids

We are so excited to announce a new collaboration between START WITH SLEEP + Empowered Publicity to bring storytime every 1st Saturday to Hertel Avenue. Reading is not only a great nightly habit to provide families a foundation for developing a consistent sleep routine but to create lifelong healthy habits that benefit their little ones both day + night.

As part of this programming we will be highlighting authors from around the country and providing activities to help parents maneuver both challenges that can arise at bedtime and to also foster an environment for family learning including:

      -Improving communication skills

      -Enhancing concentration span

      -Expanding emotional learning

      -Strengthening the parent child connection

      -Exploring their imaginations

START WITH SLEEP Story Time For Kids will be featuring popular national children’s authors sharing their newest releases, along with an interactive activity related to the theme of their new book, helping us to place the spotlight on children’s literacy in Western New York, while also highlighting the importance of how reading with your kids helps them to grow and thrive and sharing how story time with your children assists in creating healthy sleep patterns.

      June 1:
New York Times best-selling children’s author and mindfulness instructor, Susan Verde will kick off the first START WITH SLEEP Story Time For Kids to share the latest in her best-selling I Am children's book series, "I Am Human: A Book of Empathy", and also why children need to act with compassion and empathy towards themselves and others.

      July 6:
Children’s author and the owner of Rolling Rock Ranch Alpacas, Michael James will share his book the courageous story of Princess Pumpkin, The Pocket Alpaca, inspired by the real-life true story of a tiny alpaca born way to small to survive, who healed thanks to the love of her human and dog family. Princess Pumpkin helps to remind us that there’s nothing wrong with just being yourself!

      August 3:
Children’s author and the founder of The Hug Alliance & Hug The Moment, Rick Morrison will share his best-selling children’s book, The Hug Store (co-authored by his daughter, Shana), how children can learn to trust their instincts and the social-emotional aspects of hugging.

There will be a book reading, child activity and a Q+A with each author.
